Integration: Initiatives Center + Ideas Center
The integration between ideas and initiatives can occur when an idea is in the "In Implementation" status via the "Manage via Initiatives" button. It is also possible to send an idea to be managed in the Initiatives Center at the same time it is moved to the "In Implementation" phase, by enabling the flag also called "Manage via Initiatives".
| Note: It is possible to create multiple projects/tasks per idea. |
When an idea reaches the "In Implementation" stage, the "Manage via Initiatives" button becomes available.
Upon clicking the button, a pop-up will appear:
Here, the user can choose whether to send the idea to the Initiatives Center as a project (a portfolio must already be created) or as a task (a project must already be created).
Once created, the project/task will be identified in both the Initiatives Center and within the idea. By clicking the link, the user is redirected to the project/task page in the Initiatives Center.
In the Initiatives Center, it is possible to identify projects that originated from ideas. They are marked with the 💡 icon next to the original idea's ID. This icon is clickable and redirects to the idea page in the Ideas Center.
On task cards, you can also identify if they originated from ideas. Clicking them will redirect you to the corresponding idea page in the Ideas Center:
Integration: Startups Center + Initiatives Center
Initiatives projects can also be linked to or created from relationships with startups in the pipelines.
This action is performed using the "Link project" button in the startup modal within the pipeline. Only pipeline editors and superusers can view this button.
Upon clicking, a modal is displayed where the user chooses which project to link the startup to.
Projects can only be created within portfolios in which the user is a member or owner.
If the user wishes to create a new project instead of linking the startup to an existing one, they can select the "+ Create new project" option:
This allows the user to select the portfolio and the stage in which the project will be created. By default, the name field is filled in as:
[Pipeline name] - [Startup name], but this can be edited.
This same process can be repeated multiple times, allowing you to link as many projects as you wish to the same startup.
Startups linked to Initiatives projects are marked with the following icon:
In the startup modal, the initiative appears as a card, which also works as a link for users with access:
| Note: Initiatives only appear when the modal is opened through the pipeline. That is, initiatives will not be displayed if the startup modal is opened via the organizations base. |
In the Initiatives Center, projects and tasks created from pipelines are indicated with a rocket icon 🚀, which also acts as a link for users with access to the pipeline.
When an initiative is created, icons become available in both centers for identification and redirection. Redirecting links are only available to users who have permission to view the respective center. If the user does not have permission for one of the centers, they will not be able to see the link.
Example Use Cases
-
The Innovation Team finds a promising startup for logistics and, with two clicks, creates a pilot project directly in the Digital Transformation portfolio.
-
The Sustainability Squad discovers a startup with a solution for water reuse and immediately associates that discussion with a task in the “Green Initiatives” project.
-
The PMO monitors all projects originating from startup relationships in the Initiatives Center—and can cross-reference this information with other projects in the portfolio.
Special Cases of Interaction Between Centers That Affect Created Initiatives
Startups Center
-
Delete pipeline: When a pipeline is deleted, the project/task continues to exist but loses the link with the originating pipeline. That is, the initiative will no longer be identifiable from the startup side, nor from the initiative side.
-
Remove startup from pipeline: This has the same effect as deleting the pipeline.
Initiatives Center
-
Delete project/task: The initiative ceases to exist, and all associated links in the pipeline are removed. The "Create initiative" button reappears in the startup modal.
