Not sure how to create and update your KPIs in the Initiatives Hub? This article will walk you through how to perform these tasks. Here's what you'll find:
How to create a KPI?
On the platform, there are three different ways to create a KPI. Let’s go over each one below 😉
1) On the My KPIs page
By clicking the button shown below, located in the upper right corner of the Initiatives Hub screen, you’ll see all KPIs regardless of project:
To create a new KPI, just click the icon below:
A modal will then open for you to create it:
In the KPI, you can define:
-
Name;
-
Project in which it will be included;
-
Description;
-
KPI Metric: There are some predefined units available, but you can also choose your own custom unit. Just type it in the appropriate field.
-
KPI Owners;
-
Tags;
-
Goals: As the name suggests, these are target values for the KPI. Here you set the closing date and the target value expected on that date. You can create more than one goal with new dates. It’s worth noting that you don’t need to define all goals at the time of KPI creation.
-
Status: A color to represent the KPI's current status in terms of progress. Based on the goals, you can set 3 statuses by percentage of achievement—red meaning the goal wasn’t reached, yellow meaning it’s close, and green meaning it was achieved:
2) Within a project
The second way to create a KPI is when you’re already inside a project. To do this, just click the indicated button:
You’ll then see all KPIs related to that project, and you’ll notice the following button on the upper left above the existing KPIs:
The process is the same as described in the first section, except that here, since you’re already inside a project, there will be no Select Project field. In other words, when you create a KPI this way, it will be linked to the current project only.
3) While editing an existing KPI
Regardless of the viewing page (whether inside a project or on My KPIs), you can edit a KPI using the button below:
Here, in addition to modifying the KPI’s data, you’ll see the Add another button at the bottom of the modal. With this button, you can also create a new KPI.
It’s worth noting that the presence of the Select Project field follows the same logic as before: if you're already inside a project, the field won’t appear, since the system understands that you want to link the KPI to that specific project.
How to update a KPI?
To update a KPI, simply expand its swimlane using the icon and then click on the Add measurement button, both highlighted in the image below:
When you click the button, the following fields will appear. Just fill in the date (which by default shows today’s date, but can be changed), the goal, and the actual value—then click OK.
| Note: The current target value is not automatically loaded when you enter a measurement—you always need to re-enter the target. |
